Chimney Inspections/Sweeps

If you have a fireplace at your home, getting it inspected is one of the most important things you can do. This should be done yearly. This of course is for safety purposes and so that you get a cleaning burning fire every time you use your Fireplace.

What Is a Chimney Inspection? When your Chimney is inspected, we look inside to see what buildup there may be and if so, how much creosote and other materials are there inside. We then look to see if the chimney needs any repairs or if anything is broken. This will be done inside and out with each chimney. “Let us check on Spalling”

Chimney Repair/Rebuilds

There are times a chimney must be repaired or rebuilt. Bricks may fall, or cracks will appear. Weather of course can play a key factor in this. Fires and lightning also can affect the structure of your chimney. Safety is always the key in this.

The experts at Grand Designs Masonry, Chimney and Fireplace can take care of inspecting and determining if your chimney can be repaired or if it needs to be rebuilt.

We will fill in cracks, replace bricks and take care of as many repairs as we can.

Tuckpointing

This is a standard practice of maintaining your brick structures. This is done when the brick mortar is wearing away. Old Historic brick buildings are the best examples of where tuckpointing is used. It is done on these buildings because the materials on them of course are incredibly old and the quality of these materials are less advanced than what is used today.

You need Tuckpointing if the brick on your fireplace and chimney is wearing out and starting to show its age. Tuckpointing – Wikipedia

Stainless-Steel Chimney Liner Installations

stainless steel liner install 1
A flue lining or a chimney liner, is a lining used on chimneys. This will help aid and function as a filter to get out the little particles that try to come in. The liner also protects the sides of your chimney from the high heat and corrosion that happens when the chimney is used. Chimney Liners are usually part of a Fire code in most states and cities.

Chimney Liners come in a variety of materials, such as metal, clay, ceramic, or stainless steel. From our experience over the years, we have found that Stainless Steel Liners are going to hold up the best over time and be the longest lasting. The overall cost due to the lasting of these will benefit you long term. Because of the component makeup of Stainless Steel, they are so solid and tightly packed, that they will be more resistant to heat, and thus have better durability than most other materials.
